This Is Now Announce First Event!

PAINTED NAILS

The brand-new music Agency, This Is Now, heads to the world famous 100 Club for its very first event of the year. The Agency’s ethos is to work with unique entertainment and the line up reflects exactly that.

Topping the bill is Canterbury’s own modernistic psychedelic-rock outfit, Syd Arthur. When the band emerged in 2012 with their debut, self-recorded, self-produced, self-released album On An On, it didn’t take long for them to rocket to critical acclaim. Rave reviews quickly came from Q, Mojo, Uncut and The Guardian, and with the release of the single Dorothy at the end of last year, the band had their first taste of UK radio support scoring plays across 6 Music, Radio 2 and XFM as well as others.

It’s live where Syd Arthur really continue to impress – their intricate, high-energy sets, which to date include shows at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and SXSW, have resulted in a large following and many bookings at this years festivals, such as, Hop Farm, Green Man, Shambala, WOMAD and Meadowlands. With the band hotly tipped for domination in 2013, and who currently find themselves in the studio recording the next LP, the world awaits the next move from one of the UK’s best new acts.

First support of the night comes in the form of Bordeauxxx. Since forming in a 70’s themed Guilford bar one hazy night in 2009, the four-piece have been troubling dance-floors up and down the country ever since with their infectious, upbeat Indie-Pop. Laden with four-part harmonies, handclaps, synch and glockenspiel lines to compliment the driving guitars and restless drums, their music feels like it was written by summer itself, confirming Bordeauxxx to be the perfect opener on any billing this year.

Warming up for Syd Arthur is London’s very own Sensible Sam & Japan. The East London five-piece take inspirations from Bowie to Magnetic Fields via Talking Heads and transform it into their own unique take on musical treats. In 2010, the band started a rumour that their energy on stage reflects the excitement and intensity that runs through their music. They have been proving it ever since at venues across London such as Hoxton bar & Kitchen, Islington Academy and the sell-out show with Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs at The 100 Club last year.

Tickets have been selling fast since the show was announced over Record Store Day. We advise you to purchase your quickly.
